PHOTOS FROM THE 2003 XMAS SPECIAL AND NEW 2004 SERIES STOP PRESS: More photos added Dec 20th - See below! We have Clive Eardley to thank, President of the LOTSW Appreciation Society, for supplying these fantastic photos from the filming of the 2003 Christmas Special, plus some bonus clips of the 2004 series, which promises to be another corker! Regulars to the Summer Wine website will know that the BBC cameras left Holmfirth in September, 2003, after completing filming for the super new 2004 series and Christmas Special. Just before the cast left the Valley, there was a special celebration as actor Brian Murphy, who plays Alvin Smedley, celebrated his 69th birthday on set. Alvin is hoping to add a bit of love interest into the life of the wrinkled stocking Nora Batty, played by Kathy Staff. Watch this space! Regulars Tom Owen, Stephen Lewis, Keith Clifford, Jean Alexander, Burt Kwouk and Frank Thornton were joined by a few new faces. There is Josephine Tewson, of “Keeping up Appearances” fame, playing the part of Miss Davenport, the librarian, who has taken up residence next door to Glenda. Miss Davenport is going to become a regular following a guess appearance in the past. Another newcomer is the classic comedy actor Roy Hudd, of the “News Huddlines” fame, a popular hit on the radio. He is playing Lionel. Anita Carey, of “I Did n’t Know Your Cared” fame plays the part of Lionel’s wife. Now, steal yourself for our fantastic photos, brought to you exclusively via Summer Wine Online. Please note these photos will take several moments to download..but they are worth waiting for!
