Can you please help me - I am trying to locate a TV advert that Kathy Staff did a few years ago.  She was in the advert Nora Batty as seen in The Last of The Summer Wine.  We believe she was advertising stockings or tights and that she was parading along a catwalk to a trendy piano piece - CAN YOU HELP its driving us mad!!

Just a quick Happy Birthday to Tom Owen. Since we both share the same day - April 8th - here's hoping that you have a happy 58th - mine was a 63rd. From one of your many American Fans.
Hope you're having a good week Tom.

I have loved the program from the start and it looks like my children are loving it to. As I sit down to watch different episodes that I have managed to git hold of (off U.K.Gold and U.K.Drama) my 3 year old son sits with me and he has a good chuckle as well as my Granddaughter's. I will be glad when the B.B.C. brings out all the episodes on D.V.D. As I have seen on this web/site today 9 Jan 2007. Keep making the programe B.B.C.

Good News, I've noticed that seasons 5 and 6 are available for pre-order at Amazon.co.uk, with a release in early March!

I've seen no news about a Region 1 (US and Canada) release, so I'm glad I have a player that will handle UK discs!

I have an autographed picture of Kathy in my office that my brother gave me for Christmas a few years ago. It was signed for a guy named John. Many people passing through my office have asked "Who is that lady?". (She is the full blown Nora in the picture.) I just smile and tell them the truth...that she is an old sweetheart of mine. I am as proud of that picture as any gift I have ever received. Kathy, Bill, Peter and all the others have sent so much joy my way. We don't get many new episodes here but I am content to watch them all over and over. I would love to have Kathy's or some of the others mailing address so I could send a card and let them know how much I appreciate their work. I understand if they would rather protect their privacy. It is my goal in life to visit Holmfirth in the future and see where the magic takes place. I have laughed at their antics and cried at their passing.

What did Compo keep in the matchbox?

A TALE OF TWO SWEATERS

Excellent

Did I notice just a touch more dialogue involving Clegg and the other main characters? It seemed so and reminded me of some of the earlier really good Christmas specials in that respect. My all time favourite is still Crums.

I notice that there was no Billy Hardcastle nor police in this episode: possibly that is how the extra classical moments have been allowed. I like those characters but in 29 minutes you have very little time to devote to so many.

One little touch was the smile from Norah batty as she looked out of the window after an exchange with Alvin. I like the way that this sparring is develping - so unlike her former neighbour, Compo, which is just as well but a different direction.

Looking forward to the new series: any one know when it is due to be screened? Usually late February or early March seems to be the norm.

Kind regards RT

Jon Harvey

I have commited the ultimate sin. I missed the transmission of the Christmas special, 'A tale of two sweaters'. Did anyone out there get a copy on DVD and, if so, could you please provide me with a copy.

A couple of years ago I watched the episode (December) in which Norman Wisdom (Billy Ingleton) did a monologue called 'Falling in Love'. This was marvellous and have tried so many times to get a copy of the lyrics or even see the episode again. I have not managed either yet and I have emails from fans over the world all wanting the same detail. Apparently it was on Sky this morning (someone emailed me asking if I had managed to get the words) and I missed it. I thought the episode was called 'Variations on a Theme of Widow Winstanly' but this not the one. Can anyone help me/us??
Cheers

I enjoyed seeing the recipes Pat posted. My mother and grandmother always made Yorkshire pudding, so that recipe wasn’t new to me, but I plan to try the onion gravy with it soon.

How about a recipe for Mushy Peas please? I never heard of it until seeing Compo (and his imported girlfriend) enjoy it.

hello,

i'm searching for a particular episode of LotSW which I think came out in the seventies/early eighties. It involved a funeral and the hearse runs over one of the three's foot. I'd like to find it because my dad was driving the hearse and stood at the grave in another scene. He's a real funeral director who's never seen it again since then.

I'd really appreciate any information.

thank you

There is confusion over the dates of series 9, some sources (including your own episode list, TV Tomb and The Finest Vintage book) show this as a 1986 series but this is incorrect! The only "new" programs in 1986 were The Uncle of the Bride (1/1/86) and Merry Christmas, Father Christmas (28/12/86). Series 9 was actually shown between 4/1/87 and 22/3/87. The first point to note is that, had the dates been 4/1/86 etc this would have meant Saturday transmission which did not occur but more importantly in episode 1 (Why Does Norman Clegg Buy Ladies Stockings) the Yorkshire Electricity Board van clearly has a tax disc expiring Aug87 - ie the episode could have been filmed no earlier than July 1986.

Hello,
I am enquiring on the behalf of a big fan of the
show (and especially Foggy)who would like to know
about Brian Wilde's experiences in the war. I wonder
if anyone has any information. If so I would be
grateful.
Jeff Pickersgill jefpik@yahoo.co.uk

I'm a big fan of Summer Wine but unfortunately the PBS affiliate around here doesn't show the program too often. Could you tell me where I could get a dvd copy of the 1999 season featuring the death and aftermath of Compo and the introduction of his son, etc.? Any help you could offer would be appreciated.
