Can
I help YOU?
Our Frequently Asked Questions
Please can you give me
the email addresses of members of the cast, or pass on my message to
them?
We regret to say that members of the cast
cannot be contacted via email. Letters from viewers should be addressed to
each artist individually at BBC Television, Television Centre, Wood Lane,
London, W12 7RJ. United Kingdom. The BBC will send mail on to the artist
at whatever address they have given for mail.
How can we contact Producer Alan JW Bell?
Mail for Mr Bell can be addressed c/o Teddington Studios, Broom Road,
Teddington, Middlesex TW11 9NT United Kingdom.
Please can you give me
the dates the BBC are next filming in Holmfirth - we wish to come and see
them.
Unfortunately, the BBC have a policy of not
advertising their filming schedules. Sorry, we realise this frustrates
many fans - particularly those wishing to visit from a distance. But
we have to abide by the BBC rules.
I am visiting Holmfirth very soon and require a
map or details of the Summer Wine location spots, so we can go and
photograph them.
Best advice is to catch both the "walk and talk" tours from the
bus station in Holmfirth during weekends and Bank Holidays, plus the
fabulous TV Location
Bus Tours from Sid's Cafe which will take you to all the main sites in
comfort. Don't forget,.filming takes place over a wide area in and
around the Holme Valley, not just Holmfirth. Some location spots are not
openly advertised because they are private property.
We are planning a
weekend/holiday in Holmfirth and require accommodation.
Please check out the home page adverts on our sister website www.holmfirthweb.com
plus the Accommodation
page on the shops and services directory.
Can you give me
directions to Holmfirth?
also see the Maps page on holmfirthweb.com
I wish to know
more about joining the Summer Wine Appreciation Society.
Please see our SWAS
page with full details and a contact for Clive Eardley, President. You
don't have to fill in a special application form, all the details you
require are on the page.
Please can you send me
autographed pictures, books, scripts, and other souvenirs. Or provide
something for a charity appeal?
Sorry, we don't have anything like that we can
send you. Best bet is to run an appeal on our Postbag page. As for charity
appeals, we are only able to directly support one charity per year and
that is a local Holmfirth charity helping young people.
Where can I buy Last of the Summer Wine teeshirts
and other Summer Wine merchandise?
As far as we know, there are no official suppliers and the high
cost of BBC Licensing fees usually prevents small firms from issuing
official merchandise. Let us know if you spot anything.
Where can I buy LOTSW dvds/videos?
There are various sites you can find via Google, but a good starting block
is BBC UK Sales http://www.bbcshop.com
and America/worldwide http://www.bbcamericashop.com
I want details about the theme music to Last of
the Summer Wine?
Everything we have is on the music
page
Why does your site
appear to have more American content than British?
Because we receive more emails, comments and
contributions from our fans in the USA. In a typical week, nearly
two-thirds of our email is from America. But there are no restrictions! We
will publish items from all fans all over the world.
Can I write for the Summer Wine website? What are
the terms?
Yes please! We welcome contributions from fans all over the
world. In fact, about two-thirds of our content (words AND photos) is
supplied from fans and people associated with LOTSW and BBC.
Unfortunately, we are unable to pay for contributions but we will give you
a big thank you!
When will you start including video clips
from Last of the Summer Wine on your website?
We are not able to do that due to BBC copyright regulations. However, we
are working on including some audio clips of interviews with Compo and
other cast members about 10 years ago.
Who runs the
Summer Wine website and how is it supported?
Summer Wine Online is run by enthusiasts from Holmfirth and the Last of
the Summer Wine Appreciation Society, with contributions from fans. The
technical side is run by Area5 News and
PR based in Holmfirth, England. The site is supported by a small
number of contributions, sponsorship and advertising. We appreciate the
help from these people.
How can I contact
the Summer Wine website?
Full details and email contacts for co-editors Patrick and Pat on our "Meet
the Team" page. We look forward to hearing from you!
