SITE UPDATES SUSPENDED FOR SUMMER
June 2009: We are sorry to announce we are unable to respond to any further email enquiries from fans and potential visitors over the Summer period due to limited resources and funding (see appeal below).  It is likely that the site will only have a few updates over the same period.  However, we hope to be back in the Autumn if a new sponsor can be found.  The rest of the site will be left intact for readers to explore the links etc.  Regular readers will know that the site has only had a few updates over the past few months, following the loss of one of the sponsors and a part-time helper. We hope to be back very soon.

ANOTHER "BATTY" QUIZ QUESTION FOR SUMMER WINE FANS THIS SUMMER
Clive Eardley, President of the Summer Wine Appreciation Society, is running another contest for fans.  The winner will be picked during the summer and win a fabulous prize! Here is Clive's question:

sPONSOR/ADVERTISER URGENTLY SOUGHT
You have probably noticed lack of updates to the site over the past few months. This is due to the loss of our part-time helper who assisted with the updating of the site, and also replying to fan-mail. Despite local help from advertisers which pays for the hosting costs etc, we urgently need a sponsor or advertiser prepared to invest £1000 in the site over the next 12 months. This will enable us to start regularly updating the site, and assisting Summer Wine fans via email. In return, your name and adverts will appear at the top of each page.  The site used to benefit from an American-based sponsor several years ago, and this backing enabled us to develop the site considerably. If you can help, please email summerwinetv@yahoo.com
Without your help, the Summer Wine site might have to be redeveloped as a static site with just a series of archived photos and stories, but with no news or updates from the fans.

SUMMER WINE PREVIEWS : TEN YEARS SINCE MY last VISIT!
Also, a barry looking for a glenda...?
Summer Wine Website Writer Mike Fernley (pictured right with you know who!) writes:
"I last attended Summer Wine previews in 1997 at the BBC studios in Portland Place, London, ten years ago!  Although I never intended to leave it so long I have just never been able to spare the time to venture southwards for one of these enjoyable occasions, 'the former Mrs Fernley' wouldn't let me!!" Mike now says that
a 39 year old "Barry" is all alone in Lancashire and would really like to meet his Glenda...keep on reading for more details!

A TALE OF TWO SWEATERS - 2006 SPECIAL
What did you think of "A Tale of Two Sweaters"?  Reader RT says: "Excellent! Did I notice just a touch more dialogue involving Clegg and the other main characters? It seemed so and reminded me of some of the earlier really good Christmas specials in that respect. My all time favourite is still Crums." Read RT's full note on our Postbag page.

Plus sparkling photos to see on the Clive Eardley page.
AN AUDIENCE WITH PETER SALLIS
"...It was with great delight that I discovered that Peter was to make an appearance talking about his life in my locality -  Crosby Civic Hall in Crosby, Merseyside."  Summer Wine writer Mike Fernley joins an audience with that man with the most distinctive voice.

! EXCLUSIVE SCOOP!
GLORIOUS SUMMER WINE AUDIO INTERVIEWS

Freelance reporter Mike Wallbank conducting another radio interview with the Summer Wine stars in Holmfirth.

You're not going to believe these! Regular fans to the Summer Wine site will remember we tested a couple of "vintage" audio interviews with Compo and Cleggy a year or two back, which proved so popular that the resulting downloads nearly caused the SW site to crash! Well now - in an exciting link-up between Summer Wine Online and freelance reporter Mike Wallbank - we have extended the range of audio interviews for you to download and enjoy this summer.  Thora Hird (Edie), Gordon Wharmby (Wesley), Stephen Lewis (Smiler) and show producer Alan JW Bell are among the fantastic audios lined up. So pour yourself a cuppa, pull up a chair and sit back and enjoy the
rich and distinctive voices of Compo and Clegg and other famous characters from the series.  Many thanks to Mike (pictured above) - well known in the Holmfirth area, having worked on the Express and Chronicle newspaper for many years - for his tremendous enthusiasm and dedication to getting these tapes online for our fans, across the globe, to enjoy.
