Summer Wine On-line

Welcome to the official web site of the Summer Wine Appreciation Society, in partnership with Holmfirth Web. This is our tribute to the world's longest-running TV comedy series which is filmed in the Holme Valley, and surrounding villages.

On Location in Marsden
For Once it did not Rain!

Summer Wine site writer Mike Fernley with you know who!

Location Report : Marsden village , near Holmfirth.

Tuesday 16th August saw filming based around the town of Marsden and
for once it didn't rain!

I arrived at about 09:00 and wandered down to the park opposite the
church where some scenes were being filmed with Cleggy, Truly, Alvin and
Billy. Just before we moved on I had a chat with Ken Kitson and Louis
Emerick who very kindly posed for pictures. Then it was across the
river to a side street where various scenes were filmed with the men again,
plus Marina, Miss Davenport, Howard and Barry. It was all very tight
and difficult to get photographs.

After lunch it was back into town and the turn of Smiler and Tom who
have an encounter with the long arm of the law. Stephen once again posed
for his usual portfolio of shots. I found out that Tom will be
appearing in pantomime in Grimsby this year and hopes to see some friendly
faces.

As I headed off into the sunset I thought I could see a distant cloud
meandering its way towards Marsden!!
