A Day's
Filming at Wortley Hall By Mike Fernley
Location Report
: Wortley Hall, Wortley, between Huddersfield and
Sheffield. The fog was thick as I headed over the Pennines and I wondered how the weather would be over at Wortley Hall. I met up with fellow Summer Wine Committee member Margaret Tillotson at base and we spent the next hour watching scenes with the men and Lenny in the back of Entwistles pick up. It was a beautiful backdrop but was tight for photographs. The rest of the day was spent down a little lane that I had visited in 2002 for the scenes with Bernard Cribbins and Miss Davenport in the van. Today it was the scene for Tom, Smiler and Entwistle driving Auntie's new delivery vehicle. The day was really hot and everybody tried to find shade (and there was very little!!). I did feel sorry for the men as they were all crammed into the hearse. The day ended on a high when Peter very kindly signed a Wallace and Gromit picture for my 3 children and was enchanted to discover my daughter's name is Summer.
